Custom Weightlifting Mouthguards

Heavy squats, deadlifts and presses ask a lot from your bite. Many lifters clench hard under load, and biting down on bare teeth puts that force straight on your teeth and jaw. A lifting mouthguard gives you a stable platform to clench on instead. This guide covers who a weightlifting mouthguard is for, why we recommend PowerBite, how custom fit helps under load, and how gyms order.
Who a weightlifting mouthguard is for
PowerBite is built for powerlifting and weightlifting. It is also a fit for heavy gym sessions where you clench through big compound lifts. Mouthguards are not typically mandated for lifting the way they are in football or ice hockey, so this is about comfort and a consistent bite under load rather than a league rule. If you also play a contact or combat sport, pick the guard that matches that sport first, then see whether the same model works in the gym.
PowerBite vs NanoBite for the gym
PowerBite ($99.99) is our custom-fit lifting mouthguard. It gives you a stable, even platform to clench on under load, shaped to your bite from your own impression instead of a boiled-to-guess fit. Browse the weightlifting mouthguards collection to shop it directly.
NanoBite ($94.99) is our ultra-slim 4 mm guard for wrestling, BJJ, football, rugby, hockey, field hockey, basketball, lacrosse, soccer and other team sports. NanoBite also works for lifting if you want a thinner profile in the gym. Compare every model on the model comparison page.
Training combat sports too? Origin and Origin Pro are our combat guards for boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, karate and taekwondo. Use them for combat cross-training; PowerBite remains the pick when lifting is the main job.

How custom fit helps under load
Because PowerBite is made from your impression, it sits on your bite the same way on every rep. A stock or boil-and-bite guard can shift between sets; a custom guard is shaped to your teeth so the clench platform stays consistent. We ship an at-home impression kit, make a model of your teeth and pressure-form PowerBite to it in our USA lab. Not sure which thickness or model you need? Colors and customization
Pick your trim color when you build: clear, white, black, red, green, blue or gold. Metallic, satin and holographic text colors are available at no surcharge. Add Impression Storage so we keep your model on file for future reorders, and expedited (3-day) lab service is available. Real designs from our lab are on Our Designs.
Braces and dental work
Athletes with braces can get AlienGuards, but their dentist needs to take the impression instead of using our at-home kit, so the braces don't get damaged. The dentist can take an impression or 3D scan, then ship it to us or email it to impressions@alienguards.com. More on that process: mouthguards with braces.
Gym and team orders
Gyms and lifting teams get 20% off all mouthguards and merch with a minimum order of 5, including logo plus athlete names or numbers. On-site fitting is available with a minimum order and location. Order through team orders. More on how team programs work: custom mouthguards for gyms and teams.
How ordering works
- Build and order. Pick PowerBite (or NanoBite if you want a thinner gym guard), colors and options. We ship you an impression kit.
- Take your impression. Follow the impression guide at home. It takes about 10 minutes, and the putty sets in 2 minutes 30 seconds. Then mail the impression back to our lab.
- We make it. Your guard is formed on a model of your bite, pressure-formed from dental-grade material and finished by hand in the USA within 10–14 business days after we receive a good impression, then shipped with tracking.
Care is simple: rinse in cool water, brush gently with mild soap and a soft brush, and skip toothpaste. An optional effervescent denture or retainer tablet works for a deeper clean. Keep the guard away from heat. Full steps are in how to clean and care for your mouthguard.

Weightlifting mouthguard FAQ
Which AlienGuard is best for powerlifting and weightlifting?
PowerBite. It is our lifting guard with a stable clench platform, made from your own impression. NanoBite also works for lifting if you prefer a thinner 4 mm profile.
Do I need a mouthguard for lifting?
Mouthguards are not typically mandated for powerlifting or weightlifting. Many lifters still wear one for a consistent, stable bite under heavy load.
Can I wear one with braces?
Yes. Your dentist needs to take your impression instead of using our at-home kit, so your braces don't get damaged. Your dentist can take an impression or 3D scan, then ship it to us or email it to impressions@alienguards.com.
Do gyms get a discount?
Yes. Gyms and lifting teams that order through team orders get 20% off mouthguards and merch, with a minimum order of 5 mouthguards. PowerBite qualifies.
How do I clean a lifting mouthguard?
Rinse it in cool water before and after each session, and brush it gently with a soft toothbrush and mild soap, not toothpaste. For a deeper clean, use an effervescent denture or retainer tablet in cool water. Keep it away from heat.
