How Much Does a Custom Mouthguard Cost?

A custom mouthguard costs more than a stock or boil-and-bite guard from a sports store, because it is made from an impression of your own teeth instead of a size chart. Here is what an AlienGuard costs, what changes the price, which extras are worth it, and how teams and gyms save.
The short answer
An AlienGuards custom mouthguard costs $94.99 to $129.99 for the base guard, depending on the model. The at-home impression kit is included with every custom mouthguard order. Custom logos, text and extras add to the price, and the builder on each product page shows your total before checkout.
| Model | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| NanoBite | $94.99 | Wrestling, BJJ, football, rugby and team sports like hockey and basketball |
| PowerBite | $99.99 | Powerlifting and weightlifting |
| Origin | From $104.99 | Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing and other high-contact combat sports |
| Origin Pro | $129.99 | The same combat sports, with more breathability and comfort |

What is included in the price
- The impression kit. We ship you an at-home impression kit with trays, putty, step-by-step instructions and a return label. The impression guide walks you through it in about 10 minutes.
- A guard made from your bite. Your guard is crafted in our lab in the USA within 10–14 business days after we receive a good impression, then shipped with tracking. The full timeline is in how long a custom mouthguard takes.
- Your color. Every model comes in a choice of colors. Origin and Origin Pro also offer two- or three-color patterns.
- Remake or refund. Not 100% satisfied? We'll remake your guard or give you your money back.
What changes the price
- The model. NanoBite is our ultra-slim guard and the lowest price. Origin is our combat guard with reinforced impact zones and 5 mm thickness, the industry standard for competitive combat sports. Origin Pro is the same 5 mm with more breathability and comfort.
- Customization. Custom text, a custom logo or a full custom design adds to the price on Origin and Origin Pro. NanoBite lets you add up to 3 characters, like a jersey number or initials. Metallic and satin text colors are a $5.99 add-on. See what athletes have made on our designs.
- High Impact 6mm upgrade (+$15). Optional on Origin Pro, for super high-impact training and fights. Thicker isn't automatically better. More in how thick a mouthguard should be.
Extras that can save you money
- Impression Storage ($9.99). We keep your impression model on file so you can reorder without taking a new impression, and save 20% on future reorders. We recommend replacing your guard every year, so this pays off if you plan to reorder. More in how often to replace your mouthguard.
- Expedited Lab Service, 3 Day ($24.99). For when you need your guard sooner, like before a fight or the start of a season.
- Replacement impression kit ($25) or extra putty ($15). Only if you need to retake your impression. Not sure your impression is good? Email us a photo before you mail it.
- Mouthguard case ($6.99). A case keeps your guard clean and protected between sessions, in your gym bag or on the way to practice. Care tips are in how to clean and care for your custom mouthguard.
Is a custom mouthguard worth the cost?
Stock guards are pre-formed and offer basic protection. Boil-and-bite guards are softened in hot water and bitten into for a closer fit. Custom-fit guards, like AlienGuards, are made from an impression of your own teeth, so there is no size chart and no guessing. A custom guard is more comfortable and secure than a store-bought guard, doesn't slip or fall out, and is easier to wear through a full session. Custom guards usually cost more than over-the-counter options. You are paying for that fit, comfort and durability. More on the difference: why custom mouthguards outperform boil-and-bite.
Team and gym pricing
Gyms and teams that order through the AlienGuards Association get 20% off mouthguards and merch, including NanoBite and PowerBite, with a minimum order of 5 mouthguards. Team guards can carry your logo plus player names and numbers. How it works for coaches: the gym and team guide.
Braces and kids
Athletes with braces can get AlienGuards. Your dentist needs to take the impression instead of using our at-home kit, so your braces don't get damaged. Your dentist can take an impression or 3D scan, then ship it to us or email it to impressions@alienguards.com. Ask your dentist about any fee for taking it. There is no age limit. Younger athletes' teeth are still changing, so plan to replace their guard more often. See custom mouthguards for kids and youth athletes.
